Bonding and Bowling

Okay, so I'm tired of trying to make loose connections with song titles as my theme.

So, a little about Bonding Day at SAS.  The administration requires all middle school grade levels to take a bonding trip for the purpose of having students get to know each other beyond their "cliques."  The trips are done by grade level and are not to have any academic connections, on purpose anyway.  :)

So, the 6th graders spent the morning on an hour-long bus ride to a bowling alley downtown, where they proceeded to have a lot of laughs and test out their bowling skills, no bumpers.  :)

Of course, we teachers wanted to have some fun too, so we took a turn throwing a ball or two at some pins - just a little friendly competition.  It was a lot of fun, even with the A/C acting up and not cooling half of the alley.

We returned to school for a barbeque in the courtyard - burgers and hot dogs, and hash browns???  Nope, not fries.  Then we put the students in teams for activities like dodgeball - my personal favorite and station to monitor, an obstacle course, etc.  They really seemed to enjoy the day.  We ended with prizes and teaching all the 6th graders (and teachers) how to do the Cupid Shuffle.  Check out the pics and videos...
